A Huntsville, Alabama-based web designer was offered a $4,000 bonus for working in the city for four months, according to her employer.
The web designer, who is now based in San Diego, Calif., was hired by the company that owns the website The Hunt Times in February.
The new job, which is unpaid, is the largest paid bonus in Huntsville’s history, according in the company’s website.
The Huntsville City Council approved the bonus in May.
The salary for the Web Designers Guild is $20,000 a year, which includes health insurance, vacation time and a 401(k) match.
The guild’s board also awards a $5,000 “living allowance,” which covers housing, groceries and food.
The council also approved the salary of a new chief of staff, who will be paid $8,000.
The Hunt Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A spokeswoman for the Huntsville mayor’s office did not return a request.
